Mission Statement
The McLean County Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee (PAC) is organized to support candidates, committees, and issues at the local and/or state level that support a healthy economy, favorable business climate, high quality of life and progressive future for McLean County.

Policies

The McLean County Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee (PAC) is a voluntary, nonprofit wholly owned subsidiary of the McLean County Chamber of Commerce. It is supported by individuals and corporations within the business community and other interested citizens.

The PAC is for state and local elections and as such will not engage in any federal elections. The focus of the PAC is on local elections and issues, i.e. City Council, Mayoral Elections, and County Board. The PAC will also focus on state offices, i.e. General Assembly and Statewide candidates in Illinois.

PAC board members will participate in the interview process of candidates each election cycle.

Prior to each interview process, the full PAC board shall review the suggested funding levels for each office under consideration and establish ranges for contributions.

Criteria for determining if PAC should participate in an election:

  • Does the contest offer a clear choice between candidates who support the Chamber's mission and values and those who do not?
  • Will the outcome of the election have an important impact on public policy decisions affecting business, economic development and quality of life?
  • Will the PAC's participation make a difference in the outcome of the election?
  • Has the Chamber/PAC been asked to participate by members or allied interests or would it matter to them if we did participate?

Approved by PAC Governing Council 2-4-2009.
