Community Focused Yoga Studio is for Every BODY

Bloomington September 25, 2018 — There is growing evidence-based research on the broad ranging healthcare benefits of yoga for body and mind. From alleviating chronic aches and pains, to improved sleep, creativity, focus and mental health, the benefits of yoga are far reaching and universal. Harvard reports the health benefits of yoga include:

Heart Benefits – Yoga can help lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar, all of which are good for your heart and blood vessels

Sustainable Weight Management – Mindfulness developed through yoga can make you more sensitive to cues of hunger and fullness, which help you develop a more positive relationship with food. Being more aware of how your body feels also carries to mealtimes as you savor each bite or sip and notice how food smells, tastes, and feels in your mouth.

Overall Fitness – Practicing yoga a couple times a week increases muscle strength and flexibility, boosts endurance, and tunes up your heart, lungs, and blood vessels. Not to mention, focusing inward during yoga helps you be more satisfied with your body and less critical of it.

“At Renkon Yoga Studio, we create a yoga experience for everyone: from an extra-nervous beginner to someone seeking relief for stress and nagging back pain to a long-practicing yogi who’s ready to dive deeper. There is an accessible yoga class perfect for every body in Bloomington Normal; from Prenatal Yoga, Kids Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Vinyassa Yoga Flow, Dynamic Yoga Jam, Restorative Yoga, to Chair Yoga.”  said Sarah Nannen, co-owner with Brad Stefl. “We also offer workshops and special class series such as: Yoga for Kids: Building Self Confidence, Mindfulness for Educators: Establishing a Trauma-Sensitive Classroom, and Yoga and Depression.”

“Renkon is the Japanese word for lotus root. The inspiration for our studio name comes from the lotus as an analogy for the human experience. It is our deepest wish that Renkon Studio may provide a space for our community to be at ease, nurtured, and deeply supported in the muddy waters of life. We’ve hired professionally certified and passionate teachers whose first responsibility is to create a safe, supported space where everyone present is invited to explore their yoga within each practice.” states Brad Stefl.

The public is invited to help Renkon Yoga Studio, located at 3907 GE Road, Suite 6, Bloomington, celebrate one year in business on Tuesday, September 25 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.

“We will start with a family-friendly, brief ribbon cutting ceremony and social with light snacks to celebrate our first year. At 5:00 our beloved Renkon Yoga Studio teachers will be facilitating a virtual Facebook Live celebration where you’ll get to meet our teachers, learn about our classes, and ask them anything you’ve always wondered about when it comes to yoga, mindfulness, or our Renkon Studio.” says Sarah Nannen. “Anyone who joins us, in person or virtually, will get our best deal yet on studio services that will only be available from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Plus we’ll be entering those who participate in a giveaway of prizes with huge value from some of our favorite local businesses.”
